Manor Lords Celebrates Four Million Sales with Major Update Enhancing Gameplay and Features

Manor Lords has hit the impressive milestone of four million copies sold, prompting developer Slavic Magic to roll out one of its most significant updates to date.

Major Update #8 brings a plethora of new features, including an expansive Wide Valley map, a revamped livestock system with cows and calves, and additions such as oats, cider, mead, and cheese production. Players can now embrace the role of a cattle farmer as they develop their medieval settlements.

New Livestock and Gameplay Mechanics

The centerpiece of this update is undoubtedly the introduction of cows and calves. Players can import these animals through the Livestock Trader, adding new layers to resource management. Cows not only provide a steady supply of milk but can also be butchered for their meat and hides.

However, managing livestock in Manor Lords has become more complex with the introduction of the Hungry Animals mechanic. Both cattle and sheep require food during the winter months, and without proper provisions, players risk losing their animals. To assist in this, the game now features oats as a new crop, which can be processed into feed at the Livestock Farm.

Additionally, dairy production is now enhanced with the addition of the Cheesemonger workshop. This facility, accessible from Level 3 Burgage Plots, transforms milk and salt into cheese, integrating well into the game’s expanding food production system.

The update also broadens the scope of alcohol production. Players can now craft cider from apples and mead from honey, providing their settlements with even more options to keep taverns stocked.

Seasonal mechanics play a key role in this update—animals breed at specific times, sheep are sheared in the summer, and milk production halts during winter months, adding a strategic layer to gameplay.

Expanded Construction Options

The update does not stop at new food and livestock systems. Significant changes to building mechanics have also been implemented. A new Construction Yard allows players to manage major building projects more effectively. Here, constructed workers use handcarts to store and transport materials, speeding up construction by up to 50% when properly maintained.

The introduction of Ox Carts offers a new method for transporting bulk timber, streamlining the building process. Certain structures now fall under the category of Advanced Structures, requiring specialized builders assigned to the Construction Yard for completion. While families can still help with basic tasks, professional builders are crucial for larger projects.

This update also brings in the Large Stone Church as a new building option, while a Seasonal Assignment system allows automatic adjustments in family assignments based on the time of year.

Furthermore, the game's main HUD has undergone a comprehensive redesign, and players can now explore the new Wide Valley map, which features a river-based setting for further settlement development.

Aside from these major updates, players can also expect a range of AI improvements, balancing tweaks, bug fixes, and performance enhancements.

Sales Milestone Accompanied by Discounts

Following this extensive update, Manor Lords is capitalizing on its success with a 35% discount on Steam for new players, running until September 10, 2026. This offer provides an affordable entry point to the game, which is still considered an Early Access title.

Developed primarily by Greg Styczeń under the Slavic Magic label, four million sales highlight the potential of this project, especially given its Early Access status. Players can also access Manor Lords through platforms like GOG, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store, as well as with a subscription to PC Game Pass.

Looking ahead, Slavic Magic shows no signs of slowing down. Another update is already in the works, expected later this month, featuring a fresh set of perks to further enrich the gameplay.
